    Post Cell phone "reboots"

I know its not exactly a computer, but there are a few people on this site that deal with cell phones. periodicly throughout the day my phone will just "reboot". I notice it when I have it sitting next to me on my desk. I will hear it beep and look over to see it shut down and start back up. Is there something wrong with my phone?

Let me guess, it's a Nokia.

A coworker at my office had that exact problem with his Nokia 6000 series phone. Not only would it spontanously reboot for no reason, lines on the LCD display stopped working until the display was barely readable. The solution - new phone, unfortunately. Apparently this problem is not all that uncommon.

You guessed it, my phone is a Nokia 3360. I've had it for about 6 months and never really did like it. This might have to be my excuse to get a new phone.

Yep, I have several friends with the 6000 Series Nokia and they have all returned them at least once for problems relating to the screen.

A pity because I have always liked Nokia, but would think twice about buying one now.

My Nokia 6110 had the same problem. It used to shutdown by itself. The solution? Turn the phone off, open the battery and clean its connectors using white spirit. Then make sure those little battery connectors are not bended so that the battery is placed firlmy on them.

If there are lines on LCD or the LCD is barely readable, you need to open the phone, take the board out and clean that piece of plastic used to transfer the signal from the board to the LCD. I'm really sorry, but I don't know how it is called in English.

Hope this helps a bit. Good luck!

It sounds like the software is corrupt,or if its an early software version it might have some bugs in it. You could replace the software with something like Rolis flasher. It could also be the elastometer behind the LCD, this is a really common problem on 8210s, never heard of it on your model. Its easy to fix, you buy another elastometer (about a quid) remove the screws on phone(normally 6 of them) you need a T6 torx driver for this. Remove elastometer and replace with new one(its under LCD at top). If its still under warranty then just contact Nokia for a replacement.

Thanks everyone for the input. I think I will first check to see if the phone is still under waranty. If not I may look into a different brand of phone, like I said I was never really happy with this one in the first place.

Nokia = steal me, highest radiation output, and generally being a PIA to use. Is it really worth it for a different ring tone and a game I got bored of when it was on QBasic?
