Database info
I've just been tasked by the boss to start investigating SQL databases. Learn about the various flavors (MySQL, M$Sql, Oracle, Informix, etc), the differences, their strengths and weaknesses: the basic fact-finding mission.
Joy. Apparently since I knew what SQL stood for, I'm the man. It seems that management is tired of Access running in the various departments, and have decided that a centralized database would be better for all concerned (can't argue that point).
Anyway, if anyone has some good sites on the subject of SQL databases, I would appreciate a link or two. I'm especially looking for general discussions the basics, comparisons between flavors if possible. Perhaps some mailing lists? Just needing some good places to get started.
Somebody set up us the GPF!
