more RAM= more hard drive used...?
Abit kt7a raid (newest BIOS)
windows xp pro
(2) 512 sticks of micron pc 133
Fresh load of xp (several, ha!)
system reports 1.88 GB used with one stick of ram...
add anopther 512, and we are now using 2.38 GB of HDD...
remove one 512, back to 1.88 used
it is using 384 of page file either way..
can anyone offer any ideas as to why xp is doing this? adding ram should not increase the amount of hard drive used. aaugh!

Used space is being marked off for hibernation file. More ram, bigger file.

You can turn hibernation off if you don't use it by going to Control Panel > Power
I believe you can also turn it off in the properties of "My Computer"

Just something that I've been fooling around with lately but I only have 256MB of memory in my Dell Laptop and I shut off the pagefile completely and I have seen a decent improvement with speed. You having a Gig should be even better. The only thing that doesn't run on my system is photoshop but when I need to use it I just turn the pagefile on. Just my 0.02
