AS400 Question....Big Q where are you?
Big Q or other AS400 knowledgeable,
My company makes a custom Win32 App for golfclubs and one of our major accounts which covers several clubs is going to drop our software since they are purchasing an AS400. Don't know what the specs are on it or really what an AS400 is but their administrator claims that there are some windows apps that will run on it. Is this true and what requirements does a windows app need to meet to run on an AS400? POSIX compatible, I am clueless on this one
Thanks a whole lot for any reponses in advance,
tony

There is a card that actually runs NT 4.0/Win2000 for an AS/400. I don't use it because we already have NT servers.
Here's some of the info on these:

http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver...wsintegration/
IBM will soon be supporting Linux on the AS/400. I'm still getting familiar with some of the new enhancements coming out soon.

I first started by playing around on a system. Then I majored in Computer Programming (the college I went to was an IBM Partner in Education) in college. 29th Street press has some good textbooks.

Hey Q, is there much of a difference between the older as/400's and what IBM is putting out now?
I have an oppertunity to get an old (how old? about 15 years old) as/400, and would like to know if it's even worth paying the shipping on.
I don't know the model, or anything else, just that it works, and all I have to pay is shipping.

Here in the Northeast, there's a company called RPG Training that offers classes in AS/400.
I'm starting the first series in June on Operations.

I am gonna go to school to learn AS/400. It is still highly used and ever kid out of high school says he is going for MCSE so why bother. My buddy maintains AS/400's and makes good coin doing it.
