dvd laggggggg on a creative 12X
well there you have it, its a creative dvd rom 12X speed and ive tryed power dvd and interactive player.. both lag, both suck.. its not old, its not broke it just is sucking... the computer that its on is a atholon 1 gighrz machine with a 128meg and a 256 meg set up on ram, 64 megs on board video bla.. sound and all the rest.. so why is this one laggy dvd? oh by the way win 2000 pro is on the machine, but it lagged with win98se too... how do i and what do i do besides hit it up against a wall?

OK things to check,
DMA enabled?
What motheboard are you using?
which chipset does the board use?
Is the drive master or slave?
This is all i can think of off the top of my head, the more info you give, the better the response.

As Garak said, the biggest thing is to go into both the primary and secondary IDE channels in "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" in Device Manager and set the transfer mode to "DMA if available". I have a Creative Encore 12x DVD under W2K and don't have any problems...

by making dma enabled it cured the christes..
thanks guys and gals(if aplical)
mods can close this problem was solved by edited by Sowulopower dvd4 which had that option vs the power dvd3 which didnt seem to have it ne where... btw this is the xp version that works absolutly wonderfull on 2000 pro!
