dumb burner

ok.. heres my prob.. i got my 12x8x32 burner like 2 weeks ago, and it was workin fine with the kodak disc's i was using with it... then this past weekend i bought a spindle of cursor colours, and now my burn rate is like 1 out 3 works or sumthing like that... is it the discs or my burner that is screwing up??

the problem with the cursors is that it looks like it burns fine, but then when you look at the disc, only maybe a quarter of it burnt, and the TOC shows that the file(s) is on there...

System specs(at the second)

duron 700
192mb ram
cdwriter ide128

what i had different was 256mb ram before.. could this maybe affect it???

i bought my burner at future shop, and it was one of the cicero ones... it is identified as cdwriter ide128.. anyone know where i could maybe find a firmware for it??

firstly drop the burn speed, see what happens then, the discs may not support 12x, unlikley but they are still out there, secondly, try another brand of disc, thirdly, change the ram back to the 256.

I couldn't find much based on the info you have given. The closest I came up with is a BTC with your spec's at <a href="http://www.btcusa.com/product_3.html" target="_blank">http://www.btcusa.com/product_3.html</a> check it out but don't use the firmware unless you are absolutely sure this is the one. As far as media types go, I try to stick with the name brands just because of the troubles you have experienced. As Garak suggested, go back to 256 Meg, your system will thankyou for the extra room.

silverman, thanks for the site.. that looks to be the right drive... the stuff on the front matches pretty much exactly!!

im gonna hold off until im absolutely sure that its the right drive tho...

thanx for all you help guys.. and i think i will stick that extra ram back in.. had to borrow it to test out a box that im trying to get up and running again.

and garak.. i did drop the burn speed a couple times. the first time i tried it, it did this really weird burn,it burned like 20 visibly diff tracks... kinda coo tho, im planning on framing it.. ill post when i get get it scanned
