cursed by the I740
In the last two weeks, I've had two systems come into my shop that needed a reformat and a new load of windows. Both of these systems are PIIs with I740 video cards (AGP). Those are the only similarities. After reloading windows (all went well), I try to install the drivers for the I740, they install and all appears well until windows restarts and I get the dreaded "You display adapter is not working properly" message.
So far I've tried every version of the I740 driver I could find (from the shipping drivers to the latest from intel), and it still won't work. Tried directx5 through 7A and the problem still remains. Anyone have any ideas?
Note: with both of these systems, the video cards have been working perfectly since they were built (aprox. a year & a half).

Check your email, I have found several I740 marked agp video cards to really be PC Chips video cards. They will not work with the I740 video drivers, you have to use the one provided by PC Chips (Chips and Techonlogies). I sent you the driver I downloaded about a year and a half ago, it has worked for me without a problem.

Machine, the drivers are in your email. They only work on the fake i740 (PC Chips) video cards.
