    Post NVidia TNT2

Just installed a PCI NVidia TNT2 card in machine with an SIS 530 chipset. All Open GL screen savers now cause an illegal operation in the file nvopengl.dll. Also, executing some 3D functions causes the video to shutdown completely. I've tried updating to the latest drivers, but it still does the same thing.

Could it be a problem with the integrated SIS 530 video chipset? In the BIOS I've set the share memory size to NONE (hopefully this disables it). Windows device manager still shows it as being present but with an error. I've also tried disabling the SIS 530 display adaptor in the current hardware profile, but still no joy.

    Any ideas??

Also, I forgot to mention this machine has an AMD K6 CPU. I think I remember seeing some posts about problems with AMD processors and Nvidia TNT2 cards.

I'm having a system now do that with an nvidia tnt2 with an athlon 1.2G. Except it just freezes the computer completely.

If anyone knows how to work around this, please help!

    (running under win2k)

no, it's an AGP. Actually, my card wasn't a TNT2, it is a Geforce.

The SIS Chipset would be whats causing problems more than likely.

The solution is bios setting , i've had the same problem with a few customers (besides my own pc) i have a note of the correct bios settings and will post it later today.
hopefuly it will work with your systems configuration.

Once again (these work for me) tnt2 + via chipset (also tested on Ali)
Not all of these options may be available in your BIOS:

[BIOS Settings: General - PCI or AGP]
    Boot with PnP O/S [enable]
    Byte-Merge [disable]
Cache Read [disable] (Via based motherboards)
    Decouple Refresh [disable]
Delayed transactions [enable / disable - toggle, may enable PCI 2.1 compliance]
    Frame Buffer Posted Write [disable]
    Hidden Refresh [disable]
    IRQ assignment [toggle]
    P2C/C2P Concurrency [disable]
    Pallet snooping [disable]
    Passive release/refresh [enable]
PCI 2.1 compliance [enable - also may assign IRQ to VGA]
    PCI bursting [disable]
    PCI latency timer [128]
    Peer concurrency [disable]
    Primary Frame Buffer [disable]
    RAS-CAS Delay [3T]
    Read Around Write [disable]
    Snoop Ahead [disable]
    USWC options [UC]
VGA BIOS Sequence [AGP-PCI, PCI-AGP, PCI]
    VGA Frame Buffer [disable]
    Video BIOS shadowing [disable]
    Video BIOS cacheable [disable]
    Video Memory Cache Mode [UC]
    Video RAM cacheable [disable]
    Video ROM BIOIS Shadow [disable]
    Write Cache Pipeline [disable]

    [BIOS Settings: AGP specific]
    AGP 2x [disable]
    AGP 4x [disable] (troubleshooting)
AGP Bus to FSB multiplier to 2/3 or +, instead of 1/1 on PC133/AGP4x systems
    AGP Bus Turbo Mode [disable]
AGP Capability 4x/2x/1x [test 2x/1x for troubleshooting]
AGP Drive strength P control and N control to (AA) or (Auto)
AGP Graphics aperture size [Target 1/2 installed RAM]
    AGP Low Priority Timer [disable]
AGP Master 1 WS Read [enable/disable]*
AGP Master 1 WS Write [enable/disable]*
    * Must both be set the same - enable/disable
    AGP Multi Trans Timer [disable]
    AGP Transfer Mode [1x] (troubleshooting)
    AGP Turbo Mode [disable]
    USB [enabled]

    [BIOS Settings: Multiprocessor]

MPS or MP-SSPEC [1.1] (or higher)

If the board has a soft CPU select, and there is a setting for the AGP multiplier like 1/1 or 2/3, that needs to be set according to the front side bus:

    66 MHz FSB - AGP speed =1/1 (66MHz)
    100 MHz FSB - AGP speed = 2/3 (66MHz)
    133 MHz FSB - AGP Speed = 1/2 (66MHz)

Should these settings fail, Load BIOS Defaults..
