Red face program to convert DIR00000 FILES BACK

Is there any program that will change DIR000000 and file0000.chk back to their original file names? Customer said that scan disk did this, with the auto correct checked. I have seen Norton do this but never scandisk.

Scandisk will store data in these files when it cannot identify it and/or is corrupted/unrepareable. I don't know of any programs that can restore it. I have mine set to just delete these files instead of saving them. The way I understand it, all you can do is to scan the files to see if there is anything you can identify and save manually.

    Question

These poor people have over 12 gigs of backup and files on this drive. They're going craze. Is there any company that can restore the drive?

It's not the 20 or 30 directory file that I would have a problem with it's the thousands of file files that it has created and how to associate these files with the directories. What a mess.
