Check if the proxy server name is spelt right under internet option. Does your ISP need the proxy server option??? When i upgrade to IE5 i had the same prob and it was a simple matter of diabling the proxy server under the connection tab in Internet options..good luck...

Are you using AOL as the only ISP on this machine? If so try dialing a regular ISP to see if it's an AOL problem. What all is running in background? Try to ping 207.69.188.185 then www.yahoo.com from a DOS prompt after you connect to an ISP other than AOL and post your results.

sounds like you have the files related to DNS corrupt. you need to find out if you can use the Ip address instead of the domain name. If this still does not work, try it on a test hdd and reintstall the complete os. you might just have to re-install the windows network files if it works with the other HDD.

ISP doenst need DNS to work...
No Proxy needed.
Reinstalled all network settings, I think IE 5 fugged something up... Can't uninstall IE 5 cause uninstall is disabled.... so i guess i have to reformat the drive and install all
the stuff again.

When installing AOL5, NEVER answer yes/ok to the final question, "Do you want AOL to be your default browser?"--a known problem with AOL4&5. You'll be lucky to get IE to work again without the dreaded 'format & reinstall.'
