Post Acer CDRW, Adaptec EasyCD and WinME

I posed this question here and in WinME. Has anyone had a problems with Acer's CRW1032 10x4x32x CDRW, the included Adaptec EasyCD software and WinME?

I installed the drive and EasyCD. Everything worked OK until I put a CD-R in the drive, then the computer would either lock, or run SO SLOW that it couldn't be used. I tried updating the drive firmware, and I downloaded the newest version of EasyCD. Nothing helped. I put the drive in a Win98SE machine with EasyCD and it works fine.

Have you checked its jumper-settings on the WinMe box?

My HP 9100i CD Writer was problematic until I switched the IDE ATA/ATAPI controller settings from PIO mode to DMA mode. You might want to try that...

    MMMMmmmm.
Had a similar problem with w2k and a freecom unit.

Try Adaptecs site for new/updated drivers. I got all I needed (EVENTUALLY) through our friendly windrivers site.

Hey - you can but try

i had problems with mine because i installed the driver that came with the disk when later i realized that windows already has the drivers. i then had to empty the acer file out of "sys.config" then windows ran at normal speed again.
