Here's where everyone supporting the subscription because of Scott's hard work is wrong: Scott has his payoff. And we're all happy for him. Like I said before, why pay for Yahoo search when you can get Google for free? What did the people who created ICQ work hard for? The big payoff AOL gave them. Internet is meant to be free regardless of what anyone says. Just because companies and capitalists want to make a buck off anything doesn't mean that is wasn't meant to be free.

Scott's only fault in Windrivers was that he should have had a large group of people maintaining the links. I'm sure many more people in the forums would have pitched in, maybe each taking certain areas of responsibilities within the site. And purchasing hosting sites would have been much cheaper than 4 T1's in the basement (maybe even cheap enough for the ads to cover the cost). I don't know exactly how Scott ran things, and I'm sure he made the right decisions. But now, there's no reason to throw money away to Internet.com. I don't see how that will help Scott.

Personal note to Scott: You've done a great job all these years. You've made my life as a tech and now as Netork Admin much much easier. And your website set a precedence for others to follow. I'm glad to hear you can now spend time with your family. Good luck in whatever you do.

How can you say supporting a subscription is wrong. You and I both agree that this is one of the best sites available. But when you come in here on your first and second post calling people stupid for standing up and putting thier money where there mouth is, is absolutley rediculas. This is THE BEST tech site there is BAR NONE!!!! If there is a fee now, Then I will pay it. For someone such as yourself to come in and say that is wrong then Piss off. If you dont want the subscription, dont get it, but dont knock the ones who are getting it
