[RESOLVED] Why isn't OS/2 on the Operating System help lists?

It is an OS too, and it was made by Microsoft for a while.

There'd be a few people who want to try Warp 4, or something like that, and an area for helping these people would be a good idea

OS/2!!!!! Isn't that the 2Nd release of Win95

Joking aside. I have never used it so I wouldn't know what I was missing out on, but Aliendyne is correct in saying that M$ never owned it and it was owned by IBM.

Is OS/2 still around and supported?

I have never used it either.

When you make a unique Operating System, follow these simple rules:

1. Care for it. Don't let anyone make a better one out of it.
2. Care for your customers. Support them!!!
3. Don't be stubborn. Admit your mistakes and create newer drivers. That's how every hardware device is fully supported.
4. Create newer versions, cause after a couple of years the current version is history!

Actually it was originaly made by Microsoft. But the reason there is no OS/2 forum is because I didn't think anybody used it anymore and that's the first request that I've goten in three years!

Microsoft helped co-develop OS/2 back in the beginning. It was the future of os's for the future of PC's- the PS/2! THen microsoft and ibm got into a hissy fit and they went their seperate ways. Microsoft still had the rights to the code as well as ibm, and they were going to continue to produce OS/2, but then they started making lots of changes to it. They eventually turned it into bloatware, gave it the windows 3 interface, and (windows nt 3.whatever the first version is) was born. So the copy of windows 2000 you may be using right now is the great grandchild of OS/2. I guess that OS/2 did turn out to be the future of os's after all

Warp 4 was made in about 1996, so it isn't that old
it's newer than DOS
Besides, Win OS/2 can run Windows 3.1 apps

Who says, nobody uses OS/2 now as their OS? I'm the one of fews still using it as my OS. It's easy to use. Even better than Winblows.

I won't start venting, but OS/2 would probably work better than Windows, only on a 386 machine...

I actualy have only seen OS/2 once, and never realy got my hands on it. I actualy would like to get my hands on a copy some day just to toss on an old machine and play with it. I am sure, someday, I will get a support call about it!

Then you might as well add GEOS (Graphic Enviroment Operating System)
And maybe the MAC OS, Also
