Perhaps somebody can interchange these two database-entry-names ... it will be an hour work for a professional guy do set the displayed name to the login name, right?

I'm sorry to say this, but without personalizing postings (with fixed names!) it makes just 10% enjoyment and I think I'll return to the watching crowd (if at all...)
You may change your public view name all you want but your log is visable to mods and the Admin always! (Higg)

I never doubted this ... but don't standard people (non-mods, non-admins) feel more comfortable to KNOW the names of their communication partners? If you mods know each other - fine! I just can't see the sense... and the names worth nothing like that...

Oh well ... I read that somebody mentioned these fine avatars ... but I can't say "Hi avatar.gif your answer was good but..."

... oops! that's not right: I CAN say "Hi <img src=http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum3/avatars/custom/5723.gif> ... you really want us to talk/write like this?"

This topic is not to anger you mods ... it just makes me feel uncomfortable to talk to others while not sure about their name ... Mr.Jimmr/5723/jimmr13/jimmr1/.../(whatelse)

BTW: hope you don't post my password only to show me YOU can - I beleive it without probe, I'm an admin too... just on a planet somewhere else...

...and I can imagine that it's particularly tough when someone changes their name & avatar at the same time....

So 3400 what's the purpose of a name? Don't you use it to call and identify someone? Am I the only one in the world who does this procedure... *shake head* ?

Why do you you think there exists DNS in the Internet? Isn't it to better identify numbers by speakable names (so you have a better chance to remember them)? How do you call your girlfriend ... 666 ? Would she appreciate that?

Well as this all that seems to make no sense for anybody I think I'm landed on the false planet - could that be the case?

That's making seach engine here in Windrivers forums less usefull being compared
with what used to be. I cann't remember all member's id numbers having to seach for reply posted by member XXXX. LoL, I don't even remember my own member ID when doing search!
<IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> Have to open another window with my last post having to see my number... <IMG SRC="smilies/rolleyes.gif" border="0">

    What Scott's opinion about it? <IMG SRC="smilies/wink.gif" border="0">
