Post Whats in? LCD Monitor for the PC?

Well while surfing on the net for somthing really new on PC modding I came across with LCD Monitoring yup thats right LCD. Way kool.

    URL: <a href="http://www.matrixorbital.com/" target="_blank">http://www.matrixorbital.com/</a>

This place has about 10+ LCD to choose from that will work on your PC through your None using COM Ports. Runs on Windows and Linux/BSD.

You can download the free software Customers have made to make the LCD screens display Quake FRAGS (UT, CS etc...) CPU cooling, fan speeds, System cooling and much much more.

Use bar graphs animated pictures etc.. (very on model)

    Currently checking out the following:
    <a href="http://www.matrixorbital.com/serial-vfd.htm" target="_blank">http://www.matrixorbital.com/serial-vfd.htm</a>
    and
    <a href="http://www.matrixorbital.com/products/lk204-25pc.htm" target="_blank">http://www.matrixorbital.com/products/lk204-25pc.htm</a>

Well thought it would be a great addition to the modding

Do you leak any fluids, do you have any bumps on your rear, do you have any unpleasant odors?
If you answered yes to any of these then you are not qualified to own a new AMD ATHLON XP.
If someone ask you if you are running the all-new fastest AMD ATHLON XP, just turn around and reply "WHY YES, AND ITS CERTIFIED"

If the LCDs are internal how do they hook up to the serial port?

if an AT MB, then just use the serial mouse header on the MB
ATX will probablt require looping the cable through one of the slot openings to the back.
I wonder about using the IR header, if the IR header is just technically a serial port possibly even just a mirror of COM 2? I think it depends though.

They seem to be a hit on the HARDOCP forum...IMHO, I think they are ok...but nothing to spend my last 2 cents on. I guess it depends how the mod is done and what they LCD is monitoring.

It could be monitoring temps, can it operate at a BIOS level? probably not though...

Well I just bought one, and hooked it to my system, and wow the back light is nice, a light blue/green color and the text is very nice its a blue text on white background.

Im running the LCDCenter which here I can display just about anything I want. I have the lcd show all the winamp outputs. Title, Author, Time, Size, Time. I have it show my cpu speed, temp of computer, fan speeds, Time, IP, Date and much more.

    Very nice ez to use.
