My first case mod is off on a good foot

Well I purchased a cheap case for my first case mod. And I have collected everything that I think that I will need for the mod, even the paint (Until last night). I had the case at work and at lunch break I went out to the store to get the paint, no problem there, but that night when I packing up the case and the paint I disided to put the paint can in the 5 1/4 bays of the case to take it out to my truck because I did not want to drop it. But when I went to put the case in the truck, I found that door was locked so when I got the keys out the can fell out of the case and hit the ground and started leaking spraying the side of my truck. Luckly I had picked a color that kinda matched my truck so you cannot see the paint spots but still I fell very stupided on doing that. And Plus now I have to get another paint can. I am all most afraid to go any father in the case mod just afraid what is going to happen next. HAHA

When I get started I will try to post pictures of my case mod. provided I can borrow the digital camara.

sorry to hear that , im sure the case will be kool,

i too am starting my own case mod. i purchased spray paints primer, one of the cases i sprayed is all metal it looks prett kool.

my other case i want to put a window on the side for you can see the inside but im not sure what to use that will make the windows hold its place. i can screw the window in but it would look kinda ulgy with screws on the side. when i see other case mods, it doesnt look like they have screws or anything holding the windows. please somebody tell me im a newbie at this. <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

what every you do DON'T put the spray can in the case to transport it.

What I have gather is they use a glue to hold on the windows. but I don't know how they put the edge around the windows on yet.

And I'll still back that opinion up I use JB Weld on all my windows. For $3 bucks you can't go wrong. And there have been very few materials, with the exception of water, that this stuff has not bonded to. BTW, Sorry to hear about your truck.

im going to buy some jb weld today, what do you use on the sides for the windows to hide the welding solution?

I don't bother, I cut my windows big so I have overlap on the inside of the case. I can then JB weld the window to the inside surface of the side panel. That way you don't have to worry about cutting the window exactly either.

Make sure you prepare the area before you put the window on...make sure you sand the edges where you cut out for the window, you don't want any cuts, and make sure you put some sort of molding to mask the edge, I've seen to many mods where the person doesn't use a molding on the edge and it lokks kinda crappy. I personally use heavy duty double sided sticky tape, made by 3M, so hold my windows on. It works for me and havn't had any problems. Good luck with your mod Deseqer, and we want to see pics of it!!!!
