    Post Question about paint

Ok, Im getting ready to undertake my first mod. Most of the usuall stuff, lights, painting, window, ect...

But, what I'm curious about, is there any special paint I should use on the case? I don't want to use anything that would do any damage to any components.

Also, does anyone know of a good site I can get any types of lighting for the interrior of the case. I want to put some type of neon or something like that, and am not exactly sure how it'll work.

Oh, and a little more background info. I'm building an mp3 player with some extra components, and have bought a new case. THe case it's self it pretty cool. There is currently nothing inside the case other than the powersupply, so that's not a problem. I also havn't decided weither or not I'm going to pain the actuall drives, and I've not exactly sure what I'm going to do with the window. Any help here would also be appreciated. I want to do all my research before I get involved in any work.

For paint, i went to the local auto shop and picked up some metallic auto paint, and also a clear gloss coat to finish things off. I took a wire brush to my case and removed everything down to the metal. (except for the plastic front) then I painted a thin coat, waited, another coat, waited. I think there might be around 10-12 coats on it, and then 2-3 coats of the gloss coat. I didn't sand in between coats (although I think you should) and I think it turned out great! its all smooth and nice lookin!

I use Krylon paint from Wal Mart. It's not super cheap but isn't hideously expensive either. Make sure you put primer down before hand and ALWAYS sand between coats.

i use automotive primer and paint and as aplus said sand between each coat preferably wet sanding with a fine grade of sandpaper fo rthe drives i strip the faces off lightly sand with 1500 grit and use automotive paint there as well cheaper to strip the faceplate off than it is to replace a drive
