Alpha 8045, how is it?
Everyone now knows about the Alpha 8045...finally, an 80mm heatsink, so it delivers quiet but good cooling..
Check out the bottom fan on the listening room:
<a href="http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/tecar.html" target="_blank">http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/tecar.html</a>
That fan is QUIET..and it still pushes 29.5cfm. That's as much as my delta which runs much louder.
But how good is the heatsink itself..do you know what i mean? example, the thermalright SK6 obviously is a better heatsink than, for example, the AMD stock heatsink or something. Does anyone have it and could you tell me with what fan are you using it with, and what the temps are.

You want silent???? Like I recommended before, check <a href="http://www.icrontic.com/index.php?page=public/hardware&offset=20&hardwareId=80" target="_blank">This one out (an actual review of it)</a>

I know of that one, but I told my friend about it (I know as a tech you are sick of hearing about people's friends) that they suck at cooling for overclocked systems, or even stock Athlons.
My logic: Wouldn't an 80mm 25cfm fan be quieter than a 60mm 25cfm? Correct me if I'm wrong; I'm not a huge cooling guru. (Although I do know someone very experienced with cooling)

No the 80mm wouldn't be cooler unless the Heatsink itself is a lot bigger, as the fan will rotate slower to pull an identical amount of flow than the smaller faster rotational fan.
Oh can you please tell your 'friend' that he obviously is talking s#!t as I have placed one of the Antec JetCools on this T'Bird here with CoolerMaster Premium Compound andthe CPU now Idles at 29C & under full load running SETI for 1 hour prior to checking, it never rised above 35C!!!! If they were that bad then how come it has taken well over 10C off the CPU temp??? Also it is so quiet that you wouldn't believe that it was running. The Copper core makes a huge difference ....

But why run an Athlon faster than it is already running if they are that fast???? That is one thing that has always annoyed me about teh 'AMD-Marks' that they insist on overclocking their CPU's yet they say that they are superior to other makes. If they were that superior then you wouldn't need to overclock them would you???
Who said my CPU was running at 1Ghz though??? Who said I even had the 1Ghz anymore? I am sure that when I changed the CPU fan I also changed the CPU as well to a 1.4Ghz TBird as well (too gooder price to turn down at less than what a 1Ghz is at trade prices )......

I used 3 of those clear 80mm fans on DocPC's fan and they were very quiet, even with 2 sitting next to each other! That site is good too for offering a variety of fans.

What's the CoolerMaster Premium compound..that's thermal paste, right? is that better than Arctic Silver 2?</strong><hr></blockquote>
As good as, according to the write-ups I have read (couldn't get hold of any Artic Silver so went for the only stuff I could get hold of).
