Post System cooling

greetings all,

just finished tweaking my system fora forthcomming hardware upgrade, and have droped the CPU temp by 10 C.

Maxed out case cooling fans, 1 slot cooler (50 CFM though the case now), added heat sink to Northgate, upgraded video to blue orb, and installed a bay cooler for the new HDD. Used artic silver 3 and arctic silver adhesive on the heatsinks. I also added rounded cables (did the floppy drive my self).

average system temp at full load 31 C (down from 45 at full load).

been working on mine (in spare time) ....had a case with a front mounted fan + fan at back + fan in top + 1 one v/card + northbridge + thermaltake orb 3 (the big $astard) .....

all gone ,

Liam li pc7 (alloy) case ,,,with 2 x cd + 2x 60g maxstor 133 (7200) drives =

case has 2 fans at front (with filter) + 1 fan @ back + 2x akasa h/disk fans (v nice) - bolt to bottom of h/d (2xsmall fans) and a akasa AK785 h/s/f ....

result = VERY quiet (now) temps dropt from 58c (cpu) (underload) to 49c ,,,,,m/board was 27c now 22c ,,,,

just in the prosses of fitting the "thermaltake" passive +active kit for the ddr - and u even get coolers for the vga

lot happier ,,,,can sleep now!!!!!

not on my machine at the moment ,,,,no search engine ,,,

www.dabs.com = thermaltake passive + active kits ,,,passive are just the alloy strips that stick to your ddr/sdram ,,,active are the same but with a fan above .

so u need 1 kit with fan + as many kits - without fan for the rest of your mem sticks.

dabs pt no.(sound kriptic , but recept in my hand) active= 751-080-0150 £7.00 + vat
passive= 751-080-0080 £6.00.

with the non fan kit (passive) u get 2 large 1/2in x 2in h/sinks to stick on your v/card.

so the kit costs £13.00 for 2 sticks + an extra £6.00 per stick ,

did a search yesterday (webferrit) and found listings ,,,,

seems ok ,,,

ps : you can bend /shape the fan so as to make it go over 2 only ,,,,

website = www.thermaltake.com (i think) ,,,,

ps the motorway was quiet this morning ,,,was somebody playing football or summot
