Once you finish splitting the wires, DON'T TAPE THEM! If you do, they won't flex very well and you will have a rounded, stiff as a board, cable! I have found the best thing is a bit of split loom tubing. It dresses up the cable and lets the individual strands slide so it will flex. You can pick it up by the foot at most car audio shops or at a parts store(in a roll=more$). Hope this helps you out.
