[RESOLVED] Help me or my wife will kill me!!!!
I installed win98 and she "told" me to install the Sims, now heres the problem all of a sudden my cd sounds like its dieing, it acceses the cd then it turns off then starts again, i tried cleaning the lens, ive even tried it on my other drive which is win95. Ive tried diff cds and it still makes that noise I have a Kenwood 42x true and a Be6 mb. Please help me shes making me watch life time till i fix it.

Sounds like you hit the nail on the head. Your CDROM is dieing. It's just a coincidence that it happened when you installed Windows 98.

That's the timeframe that the bad ones go bad in!! Take it back and have them replace it!!

I have had the same problem with the Sims. But my cdrom isn't dying.......cause everyother game is still working fine.
anyone out there know why?

We had a machine come in with the sound coming out of the speakers in slow motion, I try to reinstall the sound drivers and that didn't work so we reinstalled windows by renaming WIN.COM method. That cleared up the sound problem and 5 or 6 other minor problems to boot.
