    Unhappy KT7A - no post

I have a KT7A with a 1G tbird that will no longer post. I was overclocking the dude with no problem. I went 1 too high and it would not post. No biggy, right? Just clear the cmos with the jumper. Still wont post. I used this rig for a couple of months and it does not run hot. I even unplugged power, removed battery, and changed jumper. Still, no post.

    Anyone seen this before?

Thx for responding! Tried that 1st... ...I know chip is good - I popped it into my KA266-R and it runs fine. This is simply the freakiest thing I have ever seen! Let me update the post:

I was overclocking a 1G AXIA core tbird (it was running fine @ 1.3G) to see how far it would go. I set it to 1.4 and it would not post. No big deal, right? I tried to default the bios with the insert key. No good. Still no post. I tried resetting it with the ccmos jumper. No post. I verified that the power was unplugged, pulled the battery, left it alone for a few hours, reset using the ccmos jumper, reassembled, and guess what: no post.

I popped the chip out and put it in my ka266r rig. Booted fine. I took my 1.4g Tbird from my ka266r and it worked with the kt133a. WTF <IMG SRC="smilies/confused.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/confused.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/eek.gif" border="0">

I guess it isn't a huge issue - I am running it @ 1.3 in the ka266r and running the 1.4 on the kt133a - no real difference, but this is wierd!

Side note - yes, after getting both machines working with the other processors, I tried to switch back (after setting the bios to a puny 600Mhz. No go. That chip no worky in that board no more!

    Cool

You have to turn off the power supply or unplug it, then put the clear cmos jumper for aprox 5 seconds then reset to normal position then turn back on and it should boot.

    Good Luck <IMG SRC="smilies/wink.gif" border="0">
