I think Tom’s test was a very interesting one. Only last week I was tinkering inside my PC and forgot to plug all my fans back in and within 20 seconds of booting the alarm bells were ringing. Thank you Gigabyte for temperature monitoring.

Although I am disappointed in how well AMD's processors handled the test (I'm not disputing what happened to the AMDs), I couldn't help being a little confused by the temperature readings for the P4 and PIII. The P4 hits 84 degrees and slows to a crawl? The PIII hits 100 degrees and crashes? My case gets that hot never mind my processor temp. My friends PIII 733MHz shows 120 degrees in the BIOS and he doesn't lock up. 100 degrees is barely warm to the touch. And how about the extended period of time that the HSF was left off of the AMDs? Don't get me wrong. AMDs run hot (fatally apparently), but the Intels barely get warm to the touch?
