Post Athlon XP problems with A7V133

Ok. I have an ASUS A7V133 RAID, Rev 1.05

I use to be running a 1400 tbird and its always run great, but i sold it to a customer and bought myself a Athlon XP 1700+

I had to flash the bios (was 1004) to support Athlon XP chips, to do this i had to borrow a mates 850 duron and flash it to bios version 1007 (adds athlon xp support).

My problem now is that it freezes every time in win2k setup when copying the files in the "DOS" part of setup.

Are there any known issues with Ath XP's and my board, and are there any fixes i can try?

    Thanks,

    Burn.,

EDIT: Forgot to add. Now when you press power, it wont post. You have to press reset before it will post...

I'll take 3 wild guesses and they may or maynot helpout your situation. You may have already done these as well, so I apologize in advance.

    1. Heat, those 1700+ get real hot even though they supposed run up to 20% cooler. If you have and orb on that cpu, replace it a good quality amd approved heatsink/fan. Also Artic silver and adequate case cooling as well.

    2. Power. The 1.4ghz athlons and higher use at least 72 watts or more of power. If you are using a 300 watt p.s., then double check at amd's website to make sure it is listed under approved power supplies to make sure it can handle your 1700+ cpu. If not, consider a 350 watt enermax or a 350 watt equivalent.

    3. If you have that hd on the onboard raid controller on that asus, try just using the hd on the regular ide controller on the mb and see if that helps.

4 If you are using a burned cd for loading win2kpro, it might be a bad burn. Just a guess.

    Hope this helps you.
