Building a new system
I am thinking about building a new Athlon system and am a little confused as to the different chipsets available and what they support. The system I want to build is a 1.4 using 2400 DDR. I want it to run at the 266 FSB. Which chipset should I look for on whatever motherboard I go with?
Thanks,
Ian.

Currently the fastest DDR chipset available is the VIA KT266A whihc in every single review I have seen, it outperforms the AMD 760, Ali Magick & SiS735. The nVidia nForce could be a major league contender with its 4.2Gb memory bandwidth, but in all honesty, you won't see that much performance difference as the Athlon can only use half that amount anyway.
The Abit KG7-RAID is a good solid board, but I would wait at present for eithera KT266A based Abit board (possibly the KR7A-RAID??) or go for one of the AMD 76x based Dual CPU setups and a couple of 1.2Ghz MP's (or 1.4Ghz MP's if you have a fair bit of cash burning a hole in your pocket)

Darren,
They have the Duel Athlons out? I didn't know there were any motherboards to support it yet. (I didn't think the chipset had been released). I would definately think of putting together a Duel Processor Athlon system if I could find the right board for it.
