Question Could a BIOS update increase my chip temp?

I've got a Athlon 1.4 with an ASUS A7M266 board running Win98se. I had just upgraded my BIOS to ver. 1005 from 1004a. Before I updated, my processor was running at 40 deg C at idle (per ASUS Probe) and BIOS readings. NOW, it's running at 50 deg C at idle after I upgraded the BIOS. Has anyone else run into this? Maybe the 1005 BIOS is utilizing the horsepower of the 1.4G chip and throwing more power to it? Can anyone give me the proper settings I'm supposed to be at if I'm off? Thanks.

I did this week after installing the latest BIOS for the KT7A-RAID. All it is that the System Monitoring calls are being read differently than before and is nothing to worry about.
