[RESOLVED] IE5 & Windows98 Causing Illegal Operations
I have installed IE5 ontop of Win98/IE4.
Everytime I go on the Net i get Illegal Operation even when i am not moving page/s.
Uninstall IE5 back to IE4 & perfect.
I am running AMD K6 2 350.
Some-one suggested memory fault but not effecting IE4.
Also it's been sugested I need a patch for IE5 due to conflicts with AMD II 350 CPU.
Can anyone help.

I have an Amd 350 + IE5 and no probs.
Try installing IE5a (included also in Office2000).
If you have a Diamond Monster II, install the new drivers before installing IE5.

Diamond said there where no known problems.
Microsoft will not reply or will gigabyte or AMD.

Check the MS notices listed on the home page here. There is a known issue and MS has a article out on it.

I had a K6-2 350 with a Gigabyte board and my processor got fried. Thought it was a power supply problem but ended up being the processor. Ive heard that the 350's are poorly made processors. Ive got a k6-3 400 now and no problems.

Yes thought about putting in a K62450 but not sure if my MB will support it and still this will not fix up my other Illegal Operation problems

The 350's were fine processors, a lower RMA rate than the 450's. Trust me, we are the #1 retailer of AMD CPU's in Winnipeg.
