 will motherboard cope with 500mhz k6-2?
i have a pc-chips m590 motherboard with a 300mhz k6-2 processor.
the motherboard manual states it supports up to 350mhz processors, but the bios settings will allow for a 500mhz processor (100mhz bus speed x5)
what are the chances of a 500mhz k6-2 processor working on this motherboard?

If you have a 100mhz frontside bus then pretty good! The new 500's that I have seen in our shop have a 2.2 core voltage. The 450 that I have has a 2.4 core voltage and I had to replace my board. Then of course AMD came out with the 2.2 version.

cool!
the bios on my motherboard is brilliant, you can change just about every setting possisble, so core voltage wouldn't be a problem! but i'd also have to upgrade the RAM from pc66 to pc100 type
 )

By the way you may have to flash the bios. It may report the chip at the wrong speed.

Even if you have the settings your bios
might have a limit in mhz that it will
recognize.My gigabyte has x 5.5 and 133mhz
fsb settings but was limited to 475mhz. Flashing the bios allowed me to run my k6-3 at 525mhz.I cant say if your bios is limited
but it may be something for you to check out...........TEE
