Question Best mobo for 450 K6-2

Hi, I would like to build my computer around the K6-2 450, I know that the mobo is most important think, so I wanna the best.
I like the Magic-Pro VIP4-L so much; there is also the Asus P5A, and the Iwill. But what is the best?

    Thank you

I don't build computers with the AMD chip, but for motherboard choices I would go for:
    1 - ASUS
    2 - ABIT
    3 - FIC

I do build AMD machines and all we use is ASUS. It has proven to be a reliable board and the website is very easy to navigate. We have a lot of hobbiests that like ASUS for that very reason. They are a little spendier but they are nice boards.

I have built a bunch of machines with AMD chips, Asus boards seem to handle them the best especially at speeds above 400 mhz, Had
trouble with one machine that had win95 on it
upgraded it to win98, and haven't heard a peep from the customer that has it (knock on wood) Just my .02

I have 5 AMD systems, From the K6 to K6-III, everyone is build on EPOX motherboards. I am very happy with them. I used to use FIC, and Shuttle boards till I found this.
    www.EPOX.COM

Look at the GM or GM2

When I think of the best mobo, one thing comes to mind: "You always get what you pay for"!
    My opinion?
    ASUS!

I recommend the FIC-503+ 1mb L2 it supports all chip speeds and is very relaible. I run a 450mhz AMD overclocked to 500mhz wiht no problems.

I can suggest what not to use. Gigabyte is not too spiffy, I regret the cheapskate route. It's not been a real headache, but it's not been a piece of cake either. Next box I slap together will use Asus for sure. It's by far the most recommended from those I've asked.

I have used both the FIC 503+ and the SOYO 5EMM+ board and let me tell ya.. SOYO works better than FIC. I have used the FIC with my k62 300, 350, 450. and I have a much easier time with the soyo. besides. ATX is the way to go.

    Thumbs up

If you are a little technical savvy go with the FIC VA503+ MOBO. It's not for the amateur builder!
It is an inexpensive board with a lot of TWEAKS. It will handle the K6-3 500MHz and anything else below from Intel, AMD , Cyrix etc. (In a Socket 7 Chip). Plus if you have older hardware...EDO Ram, PCI Video etc. You can use it and upgrade later. (AGP Video, PC100 RAM etc.)
