Freecom traveller I does not red many cd's
Hi,
I just got an external cd rom, FREECOM traveller I and I connect it to the notebook via PCMCIA card, also from FREECOM. The card is type II and it is supported by the notebook (compaq LTE 5300).
The problem is that the CD-Rom does not read many cd's. Music cd's is ok, rewritable cd's is also ok, but with many data cd's (recorded at 3X or 4X) it keeps trying to read them forever!
The device is 24X, so it should not be a problem. I use W 98 SE.
Any ideas?
Maybe driver? I use the driver downloaded from FREECOM.
Thanks,
Herrn

It's a sad fact, but not all CD-ROM drives can read all CD's. Your only hope in this case is to see if you can obtain a firmware update (Not a driver update) that will update the device.

Any idea where I can get firmware for it (FREECOM TRAVELER I PCMCIA)?
I checked on the freecom website and did not find anything.
Thanks for everything,
Herrn
