    Post Toshiba cd rom not seen

    Ok I guess that I am not all that old school.... have a Toshiba satellite 225 cds laptop.... win 95.... cd rom is external..
    windows will not see it.... boooted off 98 boot disk... no drives found.... have 2 spare drives... note work.... i know that there are some cd roms that cant be seen with out putting some lines in the auto exec file..... but i am clueless from there,,,, if that is the problem could someone please point me in the right direction as to what to type and where to put it..... this is not one of my strong points..... thanks

    mainly applies to dos/win3.x dont know if it will help you

    the two files you have to "alter" are the autoexec.bat + config.sys

    config will look like device=(the name of your driver here).sys /d:mscd000
    btccdrom.sys is the one that comes on 98 disk
    auto will look like mscdex /d:mscd0001

    dont forget to "have* mscdex on your machine

    u could always make a 98 boot disk and "disect" it

    now I dont know if this will apply to an external drive as u have tried one so maybe u need some extra files but give it a try anyway,
