[RESOLVED] HELP! MY CDROM DRIVE CLICKS WITH CDRs!
Does anyone have a clue what is going on with my cd-rom drive. It is a cheapo drive that reads CDRs usually but lately it's started clicking and hanging my system when I insert a copied CD - why does it do this and how can I stop it!
Cheers

hey man, what I would do is reverse engineer it and make a cutecat barcode reader.
Or you may want to replace it.

That's a common problem with older CD-ROM units. Most of them can't read copied CDs.
That's the main reason we through them in the bin and get ourselves new ones.

Last thing You may try is cleaning CDDrive's LED lins. But be carefull! Use only special materials!

thanks for the replies guys - i suspected it was the fact that it was a pile of shod cd drive but it did used to read cdrs - dodgy or what? Anyway, I've already whopped oot the drive and had a clean around but it still don't work - the only solution is to throw it away
