    Question P4 without RAMBUS?

I read somewhere that Intel was going to make a P4 that didn't require costly RAMBUS RAM. Is that in the making yet? If so, which ones? I tried Intel's web site, and all I got were all the "great" reason to buy a P4. (Seems odd they don't pimp the 400 FSB, the only reason I'm even looking at one.... <IMG SRC="smilies/rolleyes.gif" border="0"> )

It's still yet to come out but it will be the 845 chipset.
Look for it in the next quarter

VERY informative. Thanks Larommi. Looks like I'll buy the P4 with RAMBUS anway. The 400 FSB compared to the 266 with AMD is too much of an attractant. Besides, this is going to be a machine that's going to crunch a LOT of graphics.

    Thanks for the info everyone.

Because the only true edge the P4 has over the Athlon is the RAM speed, have you ever considered the PC800 RAM? RAM speed seems to be a priority if you're going with the P4..

JMM, I know where you're coming from. I'm a AMD fan too. I have an Athlon at the house. However, of all the benchmarks I've seen, P4 simply whoops an AMD in graphics manipulation. If this were an office machine, that would be a totally different story. But, my customer needs this to be able to crunch a whole lot of graphics. That's his business.
