    Question CD/CDR disappered in Windows

I recently installed an Iomega Zip650 but ran into two problems:
    1. I cannot see it displayed in Windows, but can access it through DOS and can see it in the Device Manager.
    2. My CD player is too slow to allow direct copying of CDs.
Problem No.1 is still unresolved and has been further complicated by my solution to problem No.2 which was to create a new 800MB partition on one of my HDs. As soon as I formatted the new partition, the CD-ROM also disappeared, but can be accessed through DOS and through my CD creating software (and can still be seen in the Device Manager).
Has anyone else come across this problem and found a solution for it. If so, could you please let me know what the solution is?

    Thanks in advance,

    Operaguy
