[RESOLVED] A+ How Many Exams is MCSE worth it

Am i right in thinking you only have to sit two exams to be A+ qualified , Hardware and Software or am i completely wrong , also does anyone think itw worth upgrading Cert to Windows 2000 currently NT4 but now with Whisteler on horizon is it worth it ?

I believe its worth it, It will be a great foundation AND not all companies run new software, and they will want someone to be the GURU of WIN2K.

Yes, the A+ cert requires two exams
-software and hardware.

Definately worth the upgrade - ONE TEST - Companies will upgrade to 2000 - and need people to support it, that could be you. Also it is one more thing to put on your resume, remember one cert takes the place of one reccommendation, so if you got more certs the better off you are.

In the REAL world....most companies do NOT have Win2000 and will not have it for quite some time.

Large companies, IT aware executives/owners may be interested. The majority of firms simply do not invest in an operating system that does little to no benefit over what they currently use. Are there benefits to upgrading to 2000? Sure....

The majority of small businesses that I do Network and PC repair/upgrades for are still running Windows 95.
Why?
Simple, it works for them. Most don't see a need to upgrade, and quite honestly, most don't have a need to upgrade. (although some do)

Back to the point.....there's plenty of honest work out there for NT 4.0 guys and gals and certainly will be for at least another 5-10 years.
Some of my local examples:

Gray Insurance Group, Bel Air, MD: NT 3.51
Chase Manhattan Bank, Baltimore, MD Win95
Bel Air Orthodontics, Bel Air, MD Win95
National Credit Management Inc. Win95
And the list goes on......

Do I think you should get certified in Win2000?

Yes...for the same reasons listed by others above.

The more certifications you have, the more doors will be open to you.

A hundred dollars may seem like a lot to you now (depending on your situation) but, in the long run, is NOTHING compared to what you can and will make with your knowledge.
