    Resolved [RESOLVED] Cisco Certification Tract

I was wondering, which certification I should go for next? I am considering getting CCDA next. Should I just work on the CCNP certs. Thanks for the input.

I know what you meant by tract, so here goes...ccna, ccnp, ccdp, then ccie.
The ccda is not worth it last time i checked.

The ccda is worth it. Few people "bother" to get this, and many places really like it if you have this and the ccna (or higher). I do plan on working on mine as time permits.

No to mention if you work on your ccnp, you can go ahead and get the ccdp as well.

    Cool

If your company wants to partner with Cisco you need a CCDA. As I've said in a previous post the test is no joke...the CCNA was alot easier.

If your serious about cisco, just go for the CCIE. The other certs are not required for CCIE. CCIE pays the most but is also the most demanding. If your the type of person that likes to do things incrementally and SEE the result, take the NA and NP then go to IE. If you really want to make it your profession and work hard and get paid the most, go straight for the IE.

While the CCIE is probably the premeir certification, it is extremeley difficult and very expensive to train for. I don't even know how you would self study for it unless you work heavily with the equipment. I checked into a local training facility (Pittsburgh, PA) and they wanted around $35,000 for an 11-month program. I think the test is approx $1500.

The CCNA is the most valuable basic cisco cert right now, however the CCDA is a valuable cert for two reasons:

    1. It is commonly overlooked and looks great in addition to a ccna on your resume - it seperates you from the pack.

    2. It rounds out your education- you can design and administer a network (as far as the employer is concerned.)
