    I wander why some of my .avi file i downloaded only play sound but no screen play.

    That's because you don't have the right codec installed to view the video portion. The place you downloaded the AVI's from should tell you what codec you need to download. You can try <a href="http://www.DivX.com" target="_blank">DivX</a>, it seems to be the most common codec used these days.

    I would direct you to <a href="http://www.codeccentral.com" target="_blank">www.codeccentral.com</a> - unfortunately the site has been bought up (by a division of AutoDesk of all things, don't know why they'd want it) and temporarily taken offline. anybody else know where to get codecs?

    You could try <a href="http://desktopvideo.about.com/cs/codecs/" target="_blank">Desktop Video Codecs</a> for information about codecs and more.

    Ditto for the DivX codecs.

    I've used them quite a lot recently to resolve this type of problem.
