Pagemaker 6.5 Printing problems
OK, running Pagemaker 6.5 on Windows 2000, trying to print to a HP color laserjet 4500. For some reason, we can't get the linked photo or a small bit of text (Bodoni Bold font) to print. The photo will print an empty box and the font will change to courier. This used to work a couple of days ago, but now I'm at the end of my rope. I've done a reinstall, uninstall, reinstall, reinstalled printer drivers, applied patches, fixes, ect... I've updated the .ppd that's assocaited with the printer.
The files will print just fine on other computers with Pagemaker, but not this one. The only computer that really needs pagemaker. We were getting an error message saying Pagemaker couldn't find the .ppd file, and I thought that was the problem, but the reinstall fixed that error message. But, for some reason it still won't print this stuff. Does anyone have any ideas? Adobe's KB was of no help. Oh, and there are no more error messages being displayed, everything acts normally, but won't print correctly.

And I presume that you've checked 'File/Document Setup' and selected the proper printer from 'Compose to Printer'?

No, I didn't, and it was set incorrectly. I did go and check it a min ago, and it made no difference. The thing is, that it'll print the correct font with a gray background instead of a image using the PCL6. Using the PS driver, he gets the incorrect font and a clear background instead of a picture.
Thanks anyways.

...tried changing to a differ font? (Just to make sure a damaged font file isn't causing the problem?)

Trust me, if I could get him to change the font, half the problem would be solved. :-) But, for some reason, he insists he HAS to have Bodoni Bold. (Yea, what's Bodoni Bold) He's also having problems with the image, so I can't see it as just the font being damaged.
I loaded a copy of the program on my box downstairs, and everything worked properly, so I know it's his computer, just don't know what suddenly caused this.

I still think it might be the font--therefore uninstalling/reinstalling didn't make a difference. I didn't mean for you to make him change his doc--just meant for you to change it to do a print test. If the doc prints using a different font then you know you need to remove and reinstall that specific font....
And do the same with the image....

Well, what the heck. I've tried everything else. I'll let you know what happens.

Yea!!!! Finally figured it out. For some reason, the program wouldn't print images that were saved on the network. We stored the pics on the local harddrive, and everything worked properly. Also told him that he'd have to deal with using a new font other than Bodoni Bold. Yea, this damn thing has been bugging me for the last 3 days, and I finally figured it out.
