    Post Net logon service

When I try to log onto the domain as admin. it says that the net logon service is not running on this machine. I then log on to the local machine and check the services. Net Logon Service is running. I stop the service and restart it again, then log out and try to log back onto the domain again with my account. We still get the same message. If I use a domain users account and log on to the domain at this workstation I recieve no error messages. Any suggestions?

if your running dhcp do an ipconfig and see if your bringing in an ip stack. you may want to release and renew just to be sure. check your cable, the port the cable is plugged into and the device that the port is hanging off of.

usually this is indicatative of a media promlem somewhere.

When you have a failed attempt as a Domain admin, then login as a domain user, take a quick look at the event viewer, (eventvwr.exe or eventvwr.msc) and see what event ID and description is recorded. Also, give us more information about the Domain. Is there a 2k server, or NT4 server providing domain control? Also, you may need to restart the net logon service on the domain controller providing the global catalog (for 2k); or the PDC if NT4.

    Just some thoughts…

Also, I tend not to think it is cable medium...

    Yeah, I'm with Ya Know

In any case, Net Logon is normally a service that is run automatically, that is it starts as a system process, not a logon process. If your machins is W2k, check under Computer Management, Services and make sure this service is set as automatic

    Good luck

The DC is WIN2K Server, have not.The service is running as automatic, and both machines have been restarted. Will check out eventlog later.
