Windows 2000 backup
I am having trouble with a client's backup. They are using NTbackup in Win2K SBS(SP1 & 2) with a Sony SDT-9000 DDS3 drive. Some nights the backup runs fine, but other it fails saying there is no free tape available. When I check the tape is says it is free/unknown. When I try to prepare it again it says it is read-only. The read-only tab is not open. I have tried using a new tape. It prepares OK, but the next day it was saying it was unknown again.
Any Ideas? Thanks in advance,
Mike

use the /mu switch at the end of the command line string. this will force the data to write to the tape.

Storm,
Thanks for the reply. Do you mean /um (unmanaged)? If so I already have that.
The problem seams to be that Removable Storage doesn't recognise the tape rather that it thinks it's the wrong one.
