System Works actually works???....I'm serious. I've only seen problems with the older versions but haven't played with the newer version. Is it more stable and less likely to crash or mess up windows?

System Works/Norton Utils will not install on a 2K server product. Use chkdsk /f from the command prompt. It works just fine.

I'm not sure if I should be relating this info or not. Moderators, if this post is inappropriate, please pull it.

Norton System Works/Utilities will not install on any NT or W2K server. I can only guess that this is either because Norton does not view the product as being stable enough for server duty or because Norton can demand much more money for versions of the individual components that are configured for server installation.

Now without actually suggesting that anyone should/could do anything that would contravene any software licensing in this case, I invite you to consider why many of the components of the software package herein discussed will not install on a server. In many cases, it seems to be that they are simply not compatible. In other cases it is simply the System Works/Utilities shell that is configured to be imcompatible while the components within that shell work just fine, thank you. Hmmmm.

Norton SystemWorks was originally designed to work on Win95 machines. Just recently they upgraded to 2001 and included support for Win2K Pro. Servers are mission critical devices, unless that server is a BDC that's basically there for password authentication and nothing else. And since Norton knows this, more than likely you are right that Norton Considers it to be unfit in it's state for server duty. Personally I would wait a few iterations that include Win2K server support ( IF they ever include it) before I EVER install a utility such as Norton SystemWorks 2001 on my PDC.
