    Post Quick mouse question

I've been using ME with a generic CompUSA USB optical mouse.. looks very much like the MS Intellimouse Optical and the Intellipoint software has worked great, letting me customize every button to my specifications.

My problem is that I just did a clean install of W2K Pro and now the Intellippoint software does not work. I first tried installing the latest version of it.. 4.something or another and after installing Intellipoint wouldn't even open.

So I then installed 3.1 (which I have on CD from when I actually did own the Intellimouse optical) and it works perfectly fine except for one thing.. I can no longer use my middle mouse button to double-click.

I go into the setting and tell it that I want to use it as double-click and I apply the settings, but all it will let me do is auto-scroll. I decided to change the mouse type a few times and that didn't work, so now I'm stuck unable to be the typical lazy American and double-click with one button.

Does anyone know of a way to make the Intellipoint software work, or can anyone point me to some better software/drivers that will work. Even a registry trick that will make it double-click would be helpful.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

Try the Logitech Mouseware drivers. <a href="http://www.logitech.com" target="_blank">www.logitech.com</a>

Just tried that.. they install, but don't do anything at all.. I know it's a cheap mouse so I prolly won't find much support, but i do find it strange that I was able to use it before and can't now.. hmmph

Well I just found some drivers tht work quite well.. browser mouse 1.0 or something like that.. ghetto in style, but with some actual drivers loaded now my other programs will recognize the additional buttons.. if someone does have a way of getting Intellipoint to work I would still very much like to hear it..
