    Question Problems with IRQ's

Im having a problem with irq7. My video card, sound card, both network cards and usb all want to share it. There are big problmes when playing online games, sound is flaky, video is very chopy, net is slow with packet loss.

Is there a way to change the irq's around?

    My hardware:

    AMD 850 Thunderbird
    Elsa x2 Gforce DDR
    MSI K7T PRO 2a
    SMC (intel chip) network1
    D-Link network2
    Sound Blaster Live

Hexus - apparently this is related to the ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) which 2000 uses to manage resource assignment. I've got a bit of interrupt-clustering on my machine too, but I seem to remember it being 9 in my case. It's never caused me any of the problems you mention, though. You could try disabling ACPI but you might find it's a better bet to make sure all your drivers are up to spec.

Make sure you've flashed your motherboard's BIOS to the latest version and installed the latest VIA 4-in-1 drivers.

It does sound like something is screwy with the PCI steering; however, it's normal for W2K to share IRQs, otherwise you'd run out.

It could be that one of your hardware drivers (video, sound, etc.) isn't the latest version. Make sure you've got the latest updates for all your hardware.
