Post DOS program windows

I've got to have some old DOS programs running on a W2K machine. The program itself works fine, but the window opens in a half screen, and a smaller type than in win9x. While I'm just happy these legacy programs work at all in W2K, some of the people who need to use the programs have poorer eyesite, and complain about the small size. I've tried all the obvious settings in the properties dialog box, but they don't seem to fix the problem. I have seen the applications run in full-screen mode on some W2K boxes. Anyone have ideas about where I can find a setting for this?

Right-click on the DOS executable and create a shortcut (if you haven't already done so). Then right-click on the shortcut and go to the "Properties" page. From there, select the "Program" tab and change the Run setting to "Maximized". Then select the "Screen" tab and change the Usage setting to "Full Screen". Both of those should help your DOS program run full screen (at least, it's always worked for me).

Also, if you have a DOS program that will support a SoundBlaster or AdLib sound card, you've probably noticed that you don't get sound out of W2K. However, you might want to go here and download v2.0.4 of VDMSound. This program is supposed emulate SoundBlaster and AdLib sound cards thereby allowing DOS programs to play sound in W2K. I've downloaded it, but haven't tried it yet (too busy). If you use VDMSound, let me know if it works...
