Reformating
I installed W2k over win98 to see what it was like. I converted 1 partition C:\ to NTFS and everthing was ok. I then wanted to do a clean install, but was unable to format that partition. I used my win98 startup disk but the C:\ was really my D:\, I was unable to see the real C:\ partition. But luckily I had partion magic on my d:\ and was able to reformat the true c:\ NTFS. When I installed W2k it found a problem with the NTFS that Partition Magic did, but fixed the problem and everytings ok. I was wondering is there any easier way of doing this???

Windows 98 is not compatible with NTFS, so that's why you couldn't format the NTFS partition after booting from your Win98 startup disk. The easiest way would have be just to start the Win2k installation, then choosing to format the c: drive when prompted.

Another thing to remember. Windows 2000 Server is different from Window 2000 Professional NTFS in one way. Some how partition magic recognizes that it is a Windows 2000 Server created NTFS partition and it won't touch it. THat requires you to use Server Magic (Very pricey) from the makers of Partition Magic. Try it, but make sure you are ready to use your win95/98 bootdisk to Fdisk that Win2K Server partition outta your system later.
