    Post Disk Porperties

Upgraded from NT to Win2k and everything seemed to go well, but now when ever I try to access disk properties explorer locks, but then windows is okay once I kill explorer with task manager. Does the same thing if I try to access properties through disk admistrator (but disk admenistrator locks). Also when ever I run chkdsk it reports there are problems with the drive. Have allowed chkdsk to repair the problems, but still get same problem with disk properties no matter what. It does not seem to be a destructive problem as in there is no data loss, just kinda annoying.

    System setup is
    PIII550
    440 BX
    256 megs ram
13 gig IBM 7200 rpm off motherboard IDE setup in 2 partitions 2 13 gig WD 7200 rpm drives off SIIG ATA-66 controler stripped in two 13 gig partitions
    Kenwood 52x and Mitsumi CDR

Chkdsk will report errors on drives C, E, F. D and G is setup as cdroms. (Hmmm, just typing this out, seems that might be a prob. Does win2k not like it when you have something aside from the 2nd hd not on D:?). Also a N: partition that just contains data, but is never given any sign of corruptions. Although it also locks when disk properties are accessed. Initally when I upgraded was able to access disk properties. This started around a week to week and half after I upgraded. It has been running for 2 months with no other problem Aside from applying office2k sp1 after upgrading to NT. Also if I try to reinstall I get an error on the first reboot saying the file system is corrupted and can not be repaired and setup will end. Appriciate any advice.

If you think the problem might be related to the number of hard drives (and drive letters assigned to them), then disconnect all of them so that you just have a c: drive and nothing else. Then start Win2k and see if the problem is still there.

Its a good place to start...

Yeah it is. Forgot to mention that I have already tried that. Also thought it might be a buugy driver on the siig card. Uninstalled it and rebooted. Still same problem.
