Thumbs down Page fault in non page area

I got the message 'Page fault in non page area' + blue screen and now my PC will not start anymore, just a blank screen and some beeps. A rescue diskette does not work. What is wrong?

So the machine does not even start to boot up? I've heard of similiar problem occuring when adding memory. So the obvious would be did you add memory or any other hardware component before this started happening? If so have you checked the HCL to verify hardware and drivers are compatible? How long has your system been running? Was it an upgrade? If an upgrade esp. did you verify compatibility? System requirements OK?

You can't boot with ERD's, have you tried Last Known?
Like I said the time I witnessed in Real Life involved memory.

If you added memory, remove that memory & see if you can get in windows (can also try in safe mode). If you can get in, increase the size of your paging file, shutdown & add your memory again. See if this works!

    Thumbs up

I have not added memory. I changed the videocard, but it's the BIOS that is corrupted. So that will be a new MB...

The messages you are getting are windows messages, no need to run off for a new mb yet..

More info please, particularly about how far it gets in posting.

"blank screen and some beeps" & "page fault in non page area" seem to be mutually exclusive statements, which is it?

Sorry for the confusion. I first got the blue screen with message. When I tried to restart nothing happened anymore, I just got the black screen with the beeps. The 3 beeps indicate a videcard problem, so I changed that, but to no avail, still the same problem. It just doesn't show anything, no memory check at start up etc.

It sounded like the video-signal, but in the end it turned out to be the bios that was corrupted...
Anyone heard of viruses that screw up the bios?
