Printing Problems

I have a user on Windows 2000 that has major problems printing. The first print job of the morning or after a reboot work fine but any other print job just sits in the queue for what seems like an eternity before it gives me the basic "Print Error" in the Queue. Does anyone have any ideas as to what can be wrong with it?

Can we get a little more basic info? Printer type, network type....more info on the system this is happening to?

The printers are all HP, raning from old 4si's to 4050N's. The network is a basic ethernet 10/100 star configuration. Someone mentioned that the temp folder may have something to do with the problem. Can power users access c:\winnt\temp? The person I spoke to says that being that the user doesn't have access to that folder, the job can't be spooled hence the reason the print job never completes. But the odd thing is that it was working fine before then all of a sudden it stopped working. I doubt it's the temp folder, but who knows???

Just for grins, you might want to check out HP's website for "HP LaserJet Printers - Support Statement for Microsoft (R) Windows 2000". Lots of good info there...

I went to the microsoft knowledge database and i found the following "fix". To me it seems more like a work around but it did fix the problem.

Create a local printer and in the Ports section, create a new port. Click Local, and type the server and printer name for the printer (use the \\servername\printername syntax). Use this port for the local printer. This determines whether there is a problem with the copying of files from the server to the workstation that occurs when you use a Connect To setup or click Network Printer in the Add Printer Wizard.
