Problem Loading NIC Dirver in NWare 4.11
I have a new Compaq DL380 server, and I'm trying to load it with Netware 4.11. When I get to the point where I try to load my NIC driver (N100.LAN), it will not load. I get 7 similar "server-4.11-1586:Loader cannot find public symbol:" errors (this is followed by names like CMSMShutdownMLID and CMSMResetMLID etc.). I have contacted Compaq and searched Novell and every other place I can think of...I just can't get this driver loaded. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

I did a search on http://support.novell.com for your problem and got a lot of hits, so it could very well be anything. Here is a blurb from Novell's site:
The error message LOADER CANNOT FIND PUBLIC SYMBOL indicates that the NLM loading tried to make an API call to another NLM that is loaded and hasn't found the public symbol due to the NLM not being loaded or an old NLM is loaded that doesn't contain that symbol.
What this tells me is that something isn't loading properly before the NIC driver, and the NIC driver needs it to load properly.
Do you have the latest NIC drivers for your card, and have you installed them properly as per the instructions?
Have you installed the latest support pack (9) for NetWare 4.11?

This is the initial setup, loading 4.11 on the new server for the first time. This is also the first time I've loaded NetWare on a server by myself, so I don't know if I'm doing it correctly. I miight not be transfering the data from the NetWare setup diskettes to the hard drive the right way...Microsoft is much easier!

I would not copy the install files to the hard drive. Install NetWare off the distribution CD, and do not copy any of the files manually from the CD unless Novell tells you otherwise.
