 fatal error cannot read ip configuration
we are using on this troubled computer norvell 3.1
a 3com nic 905b card
a ASSUS TX97 motherboard
running win 95
We reloaded the hard drive and reloaded the nic drivers but we still get this error
can you suggest a course of action
it seems the card has remebered the bad load.

I assume you mean you're using novell client version 3.1 on a system running win95? Do you get the error only when you run winipcfg, or does it occur at some other time? TCPIP is loaded in the network control panel?

yes to both questions.
we are using tcpip and the error occurs with
using novell client version 3.1 on a system running win95 and when we run winipcfg.

Do you have the directory ws2backup on the system? The problem is usually caused by a corrupt installation of the Winsock 2.0 update. Try reverting back to the old winsock configuration using the ws2backup files. Then try re-installing the update.
